Utopia is an area mid-river in the Skagit Valley.  It was once the site of a utopian community, which didn’t last long on the flood plain.  Floods may have scared the Utopians away, but the soil in Utopia is deep and fertile.

Pacific Rim Tonewoods has recently bought a farm in Utopia on which we’ll be able to conduct research relevant to tonewoods forests. We are working on ways to propagate figured maple.

Of course, any trees grown as a result of our Utopian efforts would not be harvested for some decades. Perhaps our grandchildren will play guitars made from them.
