As guitar wood suppliers for acoustic and electric guitars, mandolins, and ukuleles, you’ll find what you need right here in our online shop. And if you’re looking for tonewood that’s really special, visit the Vault. We keep adding new products every week.
FAQ's
Our shop carries a full range of premium tonewoods for stringed instrument makers, including soundboards, back and side sets, bindings, and bracewood. We also offer curated, one-of-a-kind sets in our Vault, featuring singular pieces of tonewood. Whether you’re building an acoustic guitar, electric guitar, mandolin, or ukulele, you’ll find carefully milled wood ready for your bench.
All of our tonewoods are ethically and responsibly sourced. We partner with forestry projects in the Pacific Northwest and Hawai‘i, and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers in British Columbia, Alaska, and beyond. Sustainability and regeneration are central to our sourcing, including our ongoing maple cultivation projects in Washington and koa forest restoration efforts in Hawai‘i.
Our standard tonewoods and Vault products are held to the same high standards—both are ethically sourced, carefully milled, and crafted for excellent sound and performance.
The difference lies in the uniqueness of the products in the Vault. Items in our Vault are individually listed with detailed photos and specs, so you can see exactly what you're getting before it ships. It’s a curated collection for luthiers who want to hand-pick something special.
If you prefer to select from our broader, consistently high-quality inventory, the rest of the shop has you covered. If you want a signature build, a personal masterpiece, or a customer commission, the Vault is where to look.
Yes, our traditional soundboards, backs, and sides are graded visually (AA through AAAA) for grain clarity, figure, colour consistency, and absence of defects. This ensures that each set not only performs structurally but also looks the part.
We also offer sonically graded soundboards. Using BING technology, we measure stiffness (modulus of elasticity), density, and damping (Q). Over 50% of tested tops are rejected, meaning the ones that make it through are exceptional. This system gives luthiers a reliable way to repeat tonal qualities across multiple instruments, something visual grading alone can’t guarantee.
While every piece of tonewood we sell has been carefully dried, stabilized, and conditioned in our dehumidification kiln, we always recommend that you dry and acclimate the wood according to your own schedule/protocols. Moisture content is kept at about 6% for long-term stability and tonal reliability.
Yes, we do offer international shipping to select countries across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. That being said, not all products can be shipped internationally, and not all countries are eligible. Some species (such as rosewood or koa) may be subject to export restrictions, and additional shipping fees may apply.
If you’re outside the U.S. and unsure whether we can ship to your location or fulfill a specific order, please contact us before placing an order. We’re happy to help you check.
For Vault items, yes, what you see is what you get. Each piece is photographed and listed individually. For standard shop items (soundboards, bracewood, bindings, etc.), you’ll receive a piece that meets the grade and specifications shown in the listing.
If you need help selecting a specific piece or have highly tailored requirements, we’re happy to assist. Please note that a small service fee may apply.
Our tonewoods are primarily intended for acoustic and electric guitars, but they’re also widely used for mandolins, ukuleles, violins, and other stringed instruments. Some builders even adapt our sets for lap steels, dulcimers, or custom hybrids. If you’re working on a custom or unusual build, check the product dimensions listed in each category to ensure a proper fit.
We update our shop regularly, adding new soundboards, back and side sets, bindings, and Vault products every week. Because tonewood supply depends on log availability and grading, our inventory is always evolving. Checking back often, especially in the Vault, is the best way to discover unique, limited pieces.
